HP5

You won't easily see this on the webbery, but there is a lot of detail and, in my opinion, completely unobtrusive grain in this image. I'll isolate a section and show you what I mean:

The regime that does this? Perceptol. Neat Perceptol. It turns HP5 into a sort of smooth Tri-X, and at Tri-X prices that can only be a good thing! 13 minutes @20C, not too much agitation and there you go. Some strange force overtakes me occasionally and I buy some Tmax or Tri-X or Delta this or that, or FP4 come to think of it, but, really, I ought to just stick with HP5 and Perceptol. I've tried 1+1 and 1+3 but the effect is not the same. Neat or not at all for me.

The detail just goes on and on, and, really, one could enlarge this almost indefinitely. Some of that is because the Summaron on my M2 really does produce pin sharp negs, but it's not all about sharpness as the absence of intrusive grain allows exhibition-sized prints no problem. And a Leitz lens isn't necessary either - enter the wonderful Trip 35:

This is from my Trip. Put the image up on the wall? Just do it, it won't be the quality of the neg that lets you down.
